London Day One

Officially in London! After the most interesting hot chocolate (served in a glass with a straw) and much “interrogation” at Heathrow. I arrived here at about 10:30 GMT – tired and gross but so excited! We circled Heathrow a couple of times before being allowed to land and so I sat looking out the window trying to identify as many landmarks as I could. Pretty cool. It looked so awesome from up there.

I got fetch from the airport (grabbed another hot chocolate – from Cosca this time) and ventured out onto the London streets. I saw the red double decker buses and the black taxi cabs, and some beautiful scenery on the way to Wendy’s house. We drove through Richmond Park and I saw loads of bambi deer (fellow deer I believe). Its beautiful, I will definitely have to go for a walk there. At the house I unpacked some of my stuff and then spent some of the afternoon soaking up the sun outside.

Later we went into central London. I went on my first London train. I was absolutely amazed by how many people there are here. Its really amazing. We got off at Waterloo and decided that because the weather was so good we would go on the London Eye. We got a combo ticket with a River Thames cruise. This was really cool because I got to see a lot of the famous sights from the river.  Afterwards we went on the London Eye. The views are amazing and we were up there when the sun was shining beautifully through the clouds. I saw the time and it was like 19:30 already but the sun was still shining  brightly. Talk about confusing. And I forgot to change my kindle time and I keep forgetting we are an hour behind here!

On the London Eye!

On the London Eye!

The buildings are beautiful here, and the people are so interesting to watch. They are all so different. Will hopefully see all the buildings up close tomorrow. I’m planning on going to see the changing of the guard and going on a hop on hop off bus tour and “hopping off” at the sights,

Last night we went to China town for dinner. We went to this really cool little place and had crispy duck (which you eat with a little wrap and Hoisan sauce. We also had prawn dumplings and Phad Thai. It was all so yummy!

Very successful first day in London town if you ask me!

Love,
